The Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals is a system developed by the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development. The universal symbols are meant to be used by manufacturers and distributors to label and communicate hazard among countries worldwide.
Regulators here in the United States have given chemical manufacturers until June 1, 2015 to have all their products reclassified using the new GHS system as well as developing new labels and SDS’s (Safety Data Sheets). Past this date, manufacturers can no longer ship out any products not compliant with GHS system while distributors will have until December 1, 2015 to become fully complaint.
Please contact Midway Container if you need more information or assistance related to meeting these requirements.
